Potential Concerns

The Forest Plan Maintenance Program is designed to strategically guide the overall management of the Forest Planning program on the Tongass. This website is one tool designed to identify and track potential concerns on an ongoing basis.

The Potential Concern List identifies the potential concerns identified to date, each concern’s priority rating, and the status of the work that will address that concern. Each potential concern on the list is linked to a completed concern worksheet that describes and discusses the concern, identifies the screening guidelines that have been assigned to it, and outlines a strategy to address the concern.

Potential concerns are assigned a tracking number based on the fiscal year of origin and the order in which they are validated. Comments prefaced with 04, for example, were validated during the 2004 fiscal year, which extended from October 1, 2003 to September 30, 2004.

A Concern Worksheet Guide is also located in this section so one can see the overall intent of the use of the worksheets.

New potential concerns identified by the Forest Service or members of the public will be evaluated. If the identified concern is validated, the Forest Service will identify the necessary action, the concern's priority rating, and the status of the work that will address that concern.
