| Concern | Concern has been expressed that when the Forest acquires lands from other entities, those new lands do not have an official LUD designation. |

| Situation/ Background |
We do not have clear policy and procedures in place to assign LUD status to lands acquired through purchase, donation, land exchange, etc. Also, we do not have clear policy or procedures for lands acquired outside of the proclaimed National Forest boundary. National Forest System lands located outside the proclaimed boundary usually become classified as surplus lands and are subject to disposal. Only Congress can proclaim changes in National Forest boundaries. |
